Information You Submit
Search entries
A name, location, or similar term entered in a search tool is sent to the third-party provider that operates that tool. Hanover County Busted Mugshots does not retain or log the search terms on its own systems.
Messages
If a visitor sends an email or message to the site, the content and contact details may be retained to answer the inquiry. They are not shared outside the organization except when disclosure is legally required.
Technical Data From Visits
Like most websites, the service receives limited technical information when a page is requested. This helps operate, secure, and improve the site.
- Internet protocol address
- Browser type and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Referring page or service, if one is provided
- Date and time of the request
Cookies
Cookies and comparable tools help measure how visitors use the service. A browser can be set to block or limit cookies, although certain features may then work differently.
How Data Is Used
Information is used to maintain the site, direct a submitted search to its provider, understand which resources visitors find useful, investigate faults, and support interest-based advertising where available.
External Services and Links
The site links to resources such as the Pamunkey Regional Jail roster, HCSO, the Hanover court-information page, and outside search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, that destination’s privacy notice and practices apply.
Advertising partners may collect activity across websites for ad delivery on their own systems. Hanover County Busted Mugshots does not control those partners’ data practices.
When Information May Be Shared
Personal information is not sold. It may be disclosed to the following limited categories of recipients when needed for the stated purpose or when required by law.
- Search partners that receive a submitted query
- Analytics providers that help measure site use
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure advertisements
- Law-enforcement or government bodies responding to a valid legal order
Security Measures
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used to protect information. No internet-connected system can promise absolute security, so the site cannot guarantee that a transmission or stored record will never be accessed, altered, or lost.
Visitors Under 18
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor has submitted personal information, a parent or guardian may request that it be deleted.
Privacy Choices and Requests
Subject to applicable law and verification, a visitor may ask for a copy of personal information held by the site, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion, or object to certain processing. These requests concern data held by this private site, not data held by HCSO, PRJ, courts, or other public bodies. Public-record requests to a Virginia custodian follow the separate framework in Va. Code Title 2.2, Chapter 37, §§ 2.2-3700 through 2.2-3714.
Policy Revisions
This policy may be changed as operations or legal requirements evolve. A revised policy becomes effective when posted here with an updated effective date.
